Four times more likely to crash

Published on 24 March 2024 at 09:36

Mobile phone use impacts our cognitive functions for 5 minutes AFTER we've finished using it.

And you're four times more likely to crash when using a mobile/hands-free phone.

That's just one of the startling facts offered by Prof. Gemma Briggs.

Gemma was also keen to stress that using you mobile hands-free is just as dangerous as using your actual mobile.

And if you're reading that thinking 'That doesn't apply to me' you probably have self-enhancement bias.

And if you're confused or angry at that comment, you really should check out the episode as we cover it in detail.

There's some excellent information to share with your students and to others through social media, and, as always there are some excellent resources for you:

You can contact Prof. Briggs via email: gemma.briggs@open.ac.uk or on Twitter.

But I do have something else lined up for you...

These episodes are great for us driving instructors, but they're not ideal for sharing with learners or the general public, so I will take some clips from certain episodes and realease as a short 5-10 minute podcast.

These will be great for sharing.

I'll be sending them out via email and my Whatsapp channel.

And a reminder that members of The Instructor Podcast Premium subscription get all episodes early and ad-free.

Have a great Sunday,
Terry.
