Season 3 fun

And we're back!

It's odd. I'm never quite sure whether to say 'we' or 'I'.

'We' is partly down to the guests, but partly because it feels a bit safer than saying it's just me. But in reality it is. I schedule, I record, research, ask questions, edit... you get the idea. Much like a driving instructor, there's more than just me involved, but I'm running the show!

Anyhow - we came back today with a bang. Two episodes. One being the traditional Instructor episode featuring DIane Hall and Chris Allsopp, who joined me to discuss the current generation of learner drivers and whether they deserve the often used label of 'snowflakes'. It was a fascinating episode with with plenty of insight . You can check it out here. It's always excellent listening to Chris and Diane talk as they clearly have such a terrific relationship and work really well together.

I also released a second episode - The Green Room.

I love recording The Green Room. Because we're discussing industry specific topics, rather than interviewing a guest, I get to be more involved in the episode and give a lot more of my views and opinions. And this time The Green Room has a slightly different format, it's monthly with multiple guests, which makes it all the more fun and challenging. If you listen to the episode you'll notice things are a little feisty at points!  I was joined by Chris Bensted and Dan Hill, who make an excellent pairing. (Watch this space for more between the 3 of us!)

We covered a wide variety of topics, including:

  • The lifting of Covid restrictions and how it affects driving tests and driving lessons
  • Are the Highway Code changes being followed
  • The price of driving lessons
  • Driving Instructor Day
  • Why are driving instructors leaving the industry

You can catch the show here.

The return of The Instructor Podcast with season 3, see's some new ideas too. As well as the new format for The Green Room, there is also going to be a new weekly show from me, affectionately titled 'Backstage Pass.' This will appear weekly in my Premium feed, but I will put one or two episodes a month into the regular feed.

Another new feature will be the specials. These will appear in the regular feed but feature a collection of people as we dive into topics such as Standard checks and coaching. I also have some very cool bonus episodes lined up, including a special little something on the 8th March.

In addition to this, I aim to be a lot more frequent with my blogs, including do a follow up to every episode. Honestly, I don't think that I'll be able to keep that up for the full season, but I'm sure going to try.

Anyhow, I've been super excited about returning with season 3 and I can't wait to see what it brings. As I type this at 7.30 pm on Sunday evening, I've already done record numbers of daily downloads. So thank you for reading and listening.

Have a great day.
